FAIRFIELD, Conn. (July 18, 2017) — Fairfield University’s Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts' 27th season is bringing art and performance that is bigger and bolder than ever, with exciting work and collaborations with artists that expand the limits of performance. With the new season, the Quick will continue to present works that are fun, thought-provoking, and will engage audiences by bringing global perspectives and meaningful dialogue to our stages. Some highlights include:

UPSIDE DOWN AND INSIDE OUT: The Quick kicks off the season and celebrates the arts with a party like no other on Friday and Saturday, October 13 to 14. First, experience a presentation of the North American male in all his belligerent glory as expressed by the choreography of Frédérick Gravel. Then, after enjoying some cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, enjoy the bewitchingly soulful vocals of Betty Bonafassi.

Open VISIONS Forum season kicks-off on Thursday, September 28 at 8 p.m. with Mark Ruffalo in an evening of discussion about acting and activism. Ruffalo is best-known for his roles appearing as ‘The Incredible Hulk’ in The Avengers and as Boston Globe reporter Michael Rezendes in the Academy Award-winning film, Spotlight . In addition, this acclaimed actor serves as an advocate for renewable energy sources. A special dinner with Mark Ruffalo will be hosted by the Delamar Southport with tickets available through the Quick Center Box Office.

Late in the season, the Quick will continue to break outside of its own walls with DBR’s En Masse . Composed by Daniel Bernard Roumain (DBR), En Masse is a large-scale participatory outdoor performance event that invites audience members into a deconstructed parade featuring hundreds of local musicians that will take over the University campus.

Powerful performances presented in various disciplines explore the issues of race and tradition, as we juxtapose Giselle as performed by the Moscow Festival Ballet with Dada Masilo’s reinvention of the same classic. Global Theatre: A Performance Series returns with WHITE/BOYS/BLACK/GIRLS , a theatre series featuring Mamela Nyamza and a World Premiere by Ian “Ewok” Robinson. The series is curated by Megan Lewis, PhD, theatre scholar at University of Massachusetts Amherst.

American Music Series Listening Sessions are back with America’s Musical Melting Pot, an auditory smorgasbord of big band, swing, and early American folk music, curated by Fuzz and Carrie Sangiovanni of Caravan of Thieves. Listening sessions are free for Quick Center members.

Set to a sensuous soundscape by David Byrne (formerly of The Talking Heads), all-male dance company Ultima Vez takes you on a multimedia journey of high-intensity movement and surreal dreamscapes with the U.S. Premiere of their revival of In Spite of Wishing and Wanting .
