FAIRFIELD, Conn. (November 17, 2016) — All-American jazz guitarist and vocalist, John Pizzarelli, will make a stop at Fairfield University’s Quick Center for the Arts for a special holiday performance, playing seasonal favorites and hits from his latest album, Midnight McCartney .

Midnight McCartney , has its origins in Sir Paul McCartney’s GRAMMY®-winning 2012 album, Kisses on the Bottom . Pizzarelli played guitar on 10 of the album’s 14 tracks.

Pizzarelli backed McCartney at an iTunes concert at Capitol Records Studios, the GRAMMY® Awards and the Recording Academy’s annual MusiCares Person of the Year Gala.

Fifteen months after those gigs, McCartney wrote to Pizzarelli to suggest that the jazz guitarist consider recording some of McCartney’s lesser-known songs in a jazz style in an album of his own.

“It’s a take on songs within a style we’re comfortable with,” Pizzarelli says. “There’s a lot of thought given to them and they’re fun to play and challenging. We’ve always been McCartney fans and I feel that the audience we play for now grew up with Paul McCartney as well. These songs are as familiar as ‘Polka Dots and Moonbeams.’”

John Pizzarelli is an audience favorite who has produced more than 20 solo albums, and appeared on albums with dozens of other recording artists. He started playing at age six, following in the tradition of his father, the legendary jazz guitarist, Bucky Pizzarelli. With over 36 years of performances under his belt, he shows no sign of slowing down.

The Boston Globe credits Pizzarelli with “reinvigorating the Great American Songbook and re-popularizing jazz” and the Seattle Times describes him as “a rare entertainer of the old school.”

Whether you’re a fan of the old school, new school, or just enjoy holiday concerts with your family, you won’t want to miss John Pizzarelli on Sunday, December 18, 2016 at 3 p.m .

Tickets are $60, $50 | $38 for Quick Center Members, and are available at quickcenter.com or by calling the Box Office at 203-254-4010. This event is sponsored by The Westport Inn and WPKN.
