FAIRFIELD, Conn. (March 2, 2016) — Join Mark Shriver, President of Save the Children Action Network , as he discusses his celebrated career in public service at Fairfield University’s Quick Center for the Arts on Wednesday March 16, 2016 at 8 p.m. as part of Fairfield University’s signature lecture series, Open VISIONS Forum.

Shriver’s discussion, entitled “Faith and Public Service,” is the last OVF event of the 2015-16 season, and celebrates the 10-year anniversary of the Center for Faith and Public Life.

Mark Shriver’s career as a politician and advocate fighting for social justice and in support of service organizations has focused on advancing the right of every child to a safe and vibrant childhood. As President of Save the Children Action Network, Shriver leads the effort to mobilize Americans to make the welfare of children at home and abroad a national priority.

Save the Children Action Network’s goals are to end preventable maternal, newborn and child deaths globally, and to ensure that every child in the U.S. has access to high-quality early childhood education. Shriver joined Save the Children in 2003 as Vice President for U.S. Programs and created the agency’s early childhood development, literacy, and health programs in the United States. Under his leadership, the programs expanded to 220 schools in 17 states, benefitting 165,000 children, including more than 400 children at four Head Start centers. He became President of the Save the Children Action Network in 2014 and leads a team of government relations, mobilization, political action, and communications staff

Shriver’s New York Times and Washington Post best-selling memoir, A Good Man: Rediscovering My Father , Sargent Shriver , was published in 2012 and received a 2013 Christopher Award.
