Fairfield University is among nation's best

Out of nearly 1,400 colleges and universities in the country, Fairfield University has been ranked in the top 7% of all schools in the U.S. according to a list compiled by College Factual.

College Factual is a data-driven resource dedicated to assisting prospective college students, and was recently featured on USA Today' s College web site. The schools were considered using College Factual’s quality ranking system, which is highly focused on outcomes such as graduation rates and average salaries of graduates.

Additionally, Stags lacrosse ranked in the top 3% of all Division I programs and Fairfield University improved to #7 from #9 for best Roman Catholic colleges in the country according to USA Today.

"We are excited to be introducing new programs in integrated healthcare, digital media, business analytics, and other areas of growth in this very dynamic economic and cultural moment," said University Provost and Senior Academic Vice President Lynn Babington, Ph.D. "We are proud to be innovating at this time while remaining true to our traditions and mission as a Jesuit and Catholic University that has an overarching mission to foster the personal, spiritual, and intellectual growth of our students."

Additionally, for the 25th consecutive year, Fairfield University has ranked in the top 5% for Masters degree granting regional universities in the Northeast according to a new poll done by U.S. News and World Report , the highest ranking of any regional college and university in Connecticut.  Fairfield also ranked 3 rd among regional institutions for Best Undergraduate Teaching. The university was highly rated for its high freshman retention rate (88%) and student to faculty ratios (11-1).

In 2014, the University was pleased to admit its largest class in its history and this year saw its highest application rate.  Our peer assessment score - one of the elements in the rankings - remained consistent with previous years.

"Fairfield has entered a period of profound growth and transformation as we are pivoting to meet the emerging needs and demands of today’s students," said University Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Kevin. P Lawlor. "As our programs develop, we see increased applications in our undergraduate and graduate populations, and as that continues I expect we will see our national and regional reputation grow as well."
