Student group to host a panel discussion to benefit the FEED Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to the fight against global hunger.

FAIRFIELD, Conn. (November 11, 2015) — As the holiday season approaches and food is on everyone’s mind, students at Fairfield University are focusing on feeding others. On November 19 at 6 p.m., FEED the World Fairfield University is hosting “FEED for Thought,” a panel discussion on the issue of global hunger featuring University and community experts, followed by a question and answer session. The event is being held in the Barone Campus Center. There will be $5 donation in the form of an entrance ticket for the community, $3 for students. Refreshments will be served.

FEED the World Fairfield University is a student-associated extension of The FEED Foundation, a non-profit organization that works to fight global hunger. Created by Lauren Bush Lauren, the Foundation is part of FEED Projects, a fashion company based in New York City that uses merchandise sales to provide meals for children across the world.

The panel features Dr. Jennifer Adair, assistant professor of history, and Dr. Scott Lacy, associate professor of sociology and anthropology. Dr. Adair is a historian of Latin America and the Caribbean, examining democracy in post-military repressed communities. She is also an expert in human rights and memory and social movements. Dr. Lacy is the founder and executive director of African Sky, Inc., a non-profit organization that serves hard working farm families in rural Mali, West Africa. His research focuses include food production and cross-cultural technology.
