Youth Leadership Academy for Bridgeport students

 

What: A “Youth Leadership Academy” at Fairfield University for more than 100 eighth grade students from Bridgeport. Event is part of celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

When: Tomorrow, Friday, February 6, 2015 at 10 a.m.

Where: Fairfield University’s Barone Campus Center, Oak Room

Why: A Youth Leadership Academy will be held for students at which they will learn leadership skills, including conflict resolution, anti-bullying techniques and more. During the program, Fairfield University students, staff and faculty will engage the young students in thoughtful and interactive sessions, discussions, and presentations related to the legacy of Dr. King, said Rony Delva, Project Director – Upward Bound at Fairfield.

Background: The event is part of Fairfield University’s annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Observance that has featured a series of campus-wide events for children designed to invigorate the spirit and inspire all to continue on with the important work reflected in the words, writings and actions of Dr. King.
