On Monday, June 30, 2014, at 7 p.m., Fairfield University will host a talk by Warren Tuttle, founder of New Canaan, Conn.-based Monashee Marketing, and president of the United Inventors Association (UIA). The inventor behind 'Smart Spin' and other innovative kitchen products including 'MISTO,' he'll deliver a presentation entitled: "Patent Troll Bill - The INSIDE STORY."

Free and open to the public, the event is part of a speaker series co-sponsored by Fairfield University's School of Engineering and the Charles F. Dolan School of Business, in collaboration with the Inventors Association of Connecticut (IACT). It will take place in the Dolan School of Business Dining Room.

Doug Lyon, Ph.D., professor of computer engineering at Fairfield, is president of IACT. "Warren will provide an update on the current state of the United Inventors Association, including the new management team, with particular emphasis on recent UIA efforts to derail the so called Washington 'Patent Troll' legislation, a bill working through Congress that would have had dramatic negative consequences for independent inventors," Dr. Lyon said.

Tuttle positions himself as the "Housewares Guru." He helped to initiate the market launch of several kitchen products, including 'The Gourmet Olive Oil Sprayer' and 'The Toss and Turn Pan.' He has also assisted numerous housewares product patent holders to obtain licensing agreements with major U.S. manufacturers and has counseled several inventors. Additionally, he leads the external product development program at Lifetime Brands of Garden City, New York, the world's largest manufacturer of kitchen utensils.
