"Inside Buffalo," an interesting documentary about the history of the first African-American combat unit to fight in World War II, will be screened at 5 p.m., Wednesday, March 5, in the Multimedia Room of Fairfield University's DiMenna-Nyselius Library. The screening and a post-screening Q&A with director Fred Kuwornu, are free and open to the public.

Kuwornu is an Italian-Ghanaian filmmaker, producer and activist who lives in Italy. His films examine the issues of race, ethnicity and national identity in the multicultural Italy of the 21st century.

His 2010 film "Inside Buffalo" tells the story of the 92nd Infantry Division, known as the "Buffalo Soldiers." Kuwornu uses archival footage, historical re-enactments and interviews with African-American soldiers and Italians who encountered them during the war. He got the idea for the film while working as a production assistant on Spike Lee's 2008 film "Miracle at St. Anna," the first feature-length film to tell the story of the Buffalo Soldiers. Kuwornu's film won Best Documentary at the Black Berlin International Film Festival.
