Statement from Fairfield University issued on August 26, 2014

On August 25, 2014, Fairfield University President Jeffrey P. von Arx S.J., reached out to the Sacred Heart University community in response to the death, recently, of Sacred Heart student Kaitlyn Doorhy. In a message to Sacred Heart President, Dr. John Petillo, Father von Arx offered to the Sacred Heart community and to all of Kaitlyn Doorhy's family and friends Fairfield's sentiments of grief and prayers at this time of great loss.

Fr. von Arx reflected that after his many years in education he has too often experienced the tragedy of a young life so violently taken from the community. "Such an event," he said, "can only fill us with profound sadness and force us to reflect upon the meaning of our own lives."

May Kaitlyn Doorhy rest in peace.
