Documentary producer Susan Brecker will be on hand for a screening of her film "More to Live For," a frank look at three individuals confronting life-threatening illness and their commitment to continue making a difference, on Monday, September 30 at Fairfield University. The 5:30 p.m. screening in the DiMenna-Nyselius Multimedia Room is free and open to the public. It will be followed by a Q&A with Brecker.

Directed by Noah Hutton, "More to Live For" presents three real-life accounts of people facing cancer and waiting for bone marrow matches that could save them. The film follows how they wish to inspire hope and action, leaving the viewer empowered to become part of the cure. Brecker's husband, jazz musician Michael Brecker, is one of the three subjects.

Brecker is a trained psychotherapist, who left her hospital and private practice to raise her two children. During that time she began producing plays, including the critically acclaimed "Housewives on Prozac." In 2005, her husband was diagnosed with a form of leukemia that required a bone marrow transplant, and Brecker left work again to begin a worldwide plea for new donors. She helped plan donor drives around the globe, most notably at the Red Sea, Monterey and Newport jazz festivals. "More to Live For" is part of her work to raise awareness about the vital need for bone marrow donors.
