Hollis Seamon, who teaches in Fairfield University's MFA in Creative Writing Program, will discuss her latest book, "Somebody Up There Hates You," at 7 p.m., Wednesday, October 23, at the Aloysius P. Kelley, S.J. Center Presentation Room on campus. Her talk, which is free and open to the public, is part of The Inspired Writer, the distinguished author series of the MFA program.

"Somebody Up There Hates You" is a young adult novel based on the story of two teenagers in hospice care. Critics have called it serious and raw, given its subject matter, but also entertaining and heartening.

"Even in hospice, a lot can happen in a short time," wrote a Publishers Weekly critic in a starred review. "Being near death doesn't mean abandoning hope for the life that remains."

Seamon is the author of the mystery novel "Flesh" and a short story collection, "Body Work." She has published short stories in several journals, including Bellevue Literary Review, Greensboro Review, Chicago Review and Nebraska Review. She received a fiction fellowship from the New York Foundation for the Arts.
