Launch event for new business incubator in Fairfield County

What : Grand opening ceremony of the new Fairfield University Accelerator and Mentoring Enterprise (FAME), a unique business incubator program that is a collaboration of Fairfield University's Charles F. Dolan School of Business, the Town of Fairfield Economic Development Department, and Kleban Properties.

The incubator will help idea makers become successful entrepreneurs and business owners. During the festivities, FAME's first three 'client companies' will be announced. They will be on hand to share their ideas, and what led them to become a part of this program that aims to foster local and state economic growth.

Where : FAME Suite, 1499 Post Road, Fairfield, Conn. **Enter the FAME Suite from the rear of the Fairfield University Bookstore parking garage off of Sherman Street; drive up the ramp to second floor parking. Ramp is diagonally across from 69 Sherman Street.

Event Details : Expected to be in attendance are Catherine Smith, Commissioner, Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development; Michael Tetreau, First Selectman of Fairfield; Fairfield University President Rev. Jeffrey P. von Arx, S.J.; Donald E. Gibson, Ph.D., dean of the Dolan School of Business; and business leaders and governmental officials.

Why : FAME will offer budding innovators the tools they need - from guidance to funding to prime downtown office space - to turn their ideas into realities.

FAME will initially feature three entrepreneurs who were chosen by a review board in a competitive selection process. They are being provided with a suite of services that include access to mentors from the Dolan School and area business community; discounted graphic artist and legal services; technology resources; workshops; and potential start-up funding.
