Based on Judy Schachner's best-selling book about a little kitten with a wild imagination, Skippyjon Jones is an enchanting musical recommended for audiences age 4 and up. A pre-show fiesta takes place in the lobby at 12:30 p.m. The Morris Media Group is media sponsor of this event. Tickets are $18 adults, $15 children .

This exuberant one-hour musical tour of the imagination is adapted from the award winning children's book of the same name by Judy Schachner, which has won a number of awards including the 2004 E.B. White Read Aloud Award, the 2005 Washington Children's Choice Picture Book Award, and the 2006 Colorado Children's Book Award. Skippyjon Jones is a Siamese kitten who refuses to be an ordinary cat, but is certain he's become a Chihuahua. Children will enjoy following Skippito Friskito, on his cape wearing, sword fighting adventures. The Theatreworks USA's production of Skippyjon Jones has New York theatre critics applauding. The New York Post awarded the performance three out of four stars, explaining "the show will delight small kids without boring adult chaperones."

Skippyjon Jones includes a libretto and lyrics by Kevin Del Aguila (Drama Desk nominee for "Altar Boyz" and Theatreworks USA's Click, Clack, Moo ) and a score by Eli Bolin ("Sesame Street," Theatreworks USA's We the People ). The show is directed by Peter Flynn and choreographed by Devanand Janki (the director-choreographer team behind Theatreworks' Junie B. Jones, Henry and Mudge , and Nate the Great ). Costumes are by Tracy Christensen ( Souvenir and Shrek on Broadway, Lortel nominee for Theatreworks' Seussical ) with sets by Rob Odorisio (three-time Emmy nominee for "The Guiding Light," Theatreworks USA's If You Give a Mouse a Cookie ).

Theatreworks USA is one of the most honored theatres of its kind, and is the only children's theatre to receive both a Drama Desk and a Lucille Lortel Award. It has entertained and instructed over 85 million people throughout the United States and Canada since 1961, and tours approximately 16 shows each season.
