Image: Mozart in sunglasses If Mozart lived today, would he be a rock legend? That's the question the New Haven Symphony Orchestra's String Quartet will answer when it presents the program "What if Mozart Played Guitar Hero?" at 1 p.m. on Sunday, April 28, 2013 . Recommended for families, and particularly children ages 2-to-10, the NHSO String Quartet re-imagines classic rock music as it may have been played in the Viennese Court in this 50-minute performance. Morris Media is the exclusive magazine sponsor for the 2012-2013 "Family Fun" series. Tickets are $18, adults; $15, children .

The ensemble's program includes: Jimi Hendrix's "Purple Haze," The Beatles' "Eleanor Rigby", The Rolling Stones' "Paint it Black" and "Satisfaction," Deep Purple's "Smoke on the Water" and Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven." Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart will also be represented. The composer's "Eine kleine Nachtmusik" and "The Marriage of Figaro - Overture" are also on the set list.  Concert-goers will be able to compare and contrast the violins, viola, and cello as the NHSO's "Hard Rock" String Quartet riffs like rock stars on familiar pop hits or sweetly sings to the classical strains of Mozart's genius.

Prior to the concert, audience members can visit the Instrument Discovery Zone in the Quick Center lobby, beginning at 12:30 p.m. NHSO musicians will show children how to toot and tap a tune out of orchestral instruments.
