Town of Fairfield Backup Emergency Operations Center (EOC) drill set at Fairfield University on Friday, April 5

What:
Image: Barone Campus Center On Friday April 5, on the campus of Fairfield University, Emergency Personnel for the Town of Fairfield will participate in a drill testing a new Backup Emergency Operations Center (EOC) for the Town that was developed by graduate students in Fairfield University's School of Engineering.

A Backup EOC is a pre-identified location that can serve as an Emergency Operations Center in the event that the primary Emergency Operations Center becomes unavailable in a crisis situation (e.g., due to flooding during a hurricane event). The backup location is one that is normally used for other purposes, but one that could rapidly be re-purposed as an Emergency Operations Center with minimal advance notice. Most importantly, the backup location can be equipped, prepared and maintained at a low cost.

The Center is a capstone project developed by a team of graduate students in the Management of Technology (MOT) program in the Fairfield University School of Engineering, the goal of which is to establish a sustainable backup Emergency Operations Center for the Town of Fairfield on the campus.

Participants in the drill are members of the Town of Fairfield's Emergency Operations team including Fire, Police, Information Technology, Public Health and Public Works departments, along with staff from the Fairfield University Department of Public Safety and graduate students from the School of Engineering.
