Hosted by the Center for Academic Excellence at Fairfield University, registration information and event details for the "12th Conference on Innovative Pedagogy and Course Redesign," can be found at fairfield.edu/cae/cae_conference13.html . The theme this year is "Collaborations for Empowerment and Learning."

"We see this annual conference as an opportunity to learn from each other, to build connections and collaborations and to reflect upon the meaningfulness and impact of our work as educators and scholars," said Patricia Calderwood, Ph.D., professor of Educational Studies and Teacher Preparation and director of the Center for Academic Excellence, which supports innovation and scholarship in teaching and learning across the University. Led by Fairfield faculty members, its vision of education assumes that all of the diverse members of the University campus community serve as both teachers and learners.

The event will also feature cutting edge projects in faculty support and development, the scholarship of teaching and learning, and community-engaged teaching and scholarship. The center has arranged wonderful featured presentations on areas of deep resonance for Fairfield, including mentoring networks, peer review and publication of engaged scholarship, and collaboration as a tool for teaching.

The keynote presenter is Professor Mary Deane Sorcinelli, Ph.D., associate provost for Faculty Development and director of the Center for Teaching and Faculty Development at the University of Massachusetts - Amherst. She plans a highly interactive session entitled, "Mutual Mentoring: Moving Beyond One-Size-Fits-All Mentoring."
