The
Fairfield University Glee Club
concludes its 65th season with its annual
Pops Concert
at
7:30 p.m., Thursday, May 3, 2012, at Fairfield University's Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts.
The program includes pop, R&B, rock, rap, Broadway selections, and original material, with songs ranging from "Proud Mary" by John Fogerty to "Cosmic Love" by Florence and the Machine. The concert features performances by
The Fairfield University Glee Club
conducted by Carole Ann Maxwell, D.S.M., with accompanist Beth Palmer, and the Reverend Charles H. Allen S.J., Chaplain, as well as by Glee Club members in a variety of collaborations. Musical accompaniment will be provided by
The Pops Band,
with a special appearance by
Chasing Carmen
, the alternate rock quartet comprised of Fairfield University students and graduates. Also performing are
Sweet Harmony
, an all-female ensemble of chamber singers directed by Nicole Raposo and Lindsey Gorgol, the
Bensonians
, an all-male a cappella group directed by Robert Preli, and the
Singing Alumni
.
The Pops Band
consists of Dan Arcamone on guitar, Mike Nunno on bass, Mark Beyerly on keyboards, and Anthony Dequattro on drums. Tickets: $10; Students: $6.
The Fairfield University Glee Club
numbers over 120 undergraduate and graduate singers. The Glee Club's 65th Season included a tour of Italy in March, 2012, and a performance at The Vatican. Dr. Carole Ann Maxwell has served as Director of Choral and Liturgical Music for Fairfield University since 1980. She also conducts the Summer Festival Chorus at the Quick Center for the Arts is the artistic director of The Mendelssohn Choir of Connecticut.
