Fairfield University School of Engineering and Inventors Association event to feature free talk by Charter Oak Brewing Company founder

Image: McAuliffe Hall Fairfield University's School of Engineering and the Inventors Association of Connecticut will present a free, public lecture by Scott Vallely, chief executive officer of Charter Oak Brewing Company,  creator of "1687 Brown Ale."

Taking place on Tuesday, August 28, at 7 p.m., the event will be held in the Dolan School of Business Dining Room.

After selling Paper.com, Vallely, a New Canaan resident, decided to launch a brewing enterprise. At Fairfield, he'll discuss transitioning his avocation of brewing beer into a Connecticut-based craft beer company. He'll offer insights into the challenges of starting up Charter Oak Brewing Company and what the operation looks like today - eighteen months after setting up the corporation and eight weeks after brewing its first batch. Charter Oak Brewing Company is now an official craft beer competitor, offering tastings in taverns, pubs and restaurants to spark sales of its first entry, "1687 Brown Ale."
