Fairfield University's School of Engineering and IACT host 2nd Annual Angel Panel 'Panning for Gold in Business Plans' | Press Releases

Image: M Roer On Tuesday, April 24 at 7 p.m., Fairfield University's School of Engineering and the Inventors Association of Connecticut (IACT) will present Mike Roer, president of the Entrepreneurship Foundation, speaking at and moderating the 2nd Annual Angel Panel 'Panning for Gold in Business Plans.' This event is free and open to the public, and will take place in the Dolan School of Business, on the Fairfield campus.

Roer is the former executive director of the Connecticut Venture Group, a post he held for many years that involved organizing and orchestrating the annual "Crossroads" event featuring promising technologies and early stage businesses.

"Angel" panelists will include:

Liddy Karter , who offers clients expertise in the financial services, banking, software and manufacturing sectors. As president of Resource Recovery Systems, Inc., Karter grew sales from $600,000 to $20 million with 13 factories in eight states. As CFO of Netkey, a leading enterprise software firm, she raised $15 million in institutional venture capital and was responsible for spearheading sales for the new enterprise technology platform to banking and retail clients. A former vice president at Morgan Stanley, she received her MBA from Yale University and a B.A. in history and engineering from Columbia University.
Miles Spencer , who for over twenty years distinguished himself as a creator of ideas, a builder of businesses, and a leader of organizations. The Angel group he founded, Vaux les Ventures, has interests in over a dozen companies where he helped form the original team, provided the original capital, or both. Capital events following his efforts have realized more than $1 billion dollars of value for shareholders, including notable successes in digital media like Register.com, Operative, Mojiva, Retail Sense, Cellufun and TrustCloud.
John Warburg is a partner in Warbros Venture Partners in Southport, Conn., a private equity firm he co-founded in 1996 to make investments in companies whose size or financing requirements were too small to attract traditional venture capital. Prior to Warbros, Warburg worked in various marketing capacities in the consumer packaged goods industry first at Best Foods/CPC, where he managed major food brands, such as Skippy Peanut Butter, and later as a marketing consultant to large and small companies in a variety of industries. In between, he worked at Callard & Bowser (a small candy company later acquired by Kraft Foods), where he helped to build Altoids Peppermints from a relatively unknown brand into the best selling mint product in the U.S. with sales today of over $100 million. Prior to these experiences, he worked in equity research at Lehman Brothers. He received his B.A. from Brown University and his MBA from the NYU Stern School of Business.
