It's a fairy tale place where everyone is always happy, and the enchanting Goody GumDrop Tree grows. "Babes in Toyland" brings to life Jack and Jill, the Toy Soldiers and all the "girl and boyland" friends who share adventures in Toyland and the Magic Forest in a contemporary adaptation of this captiviating childhood tale. Presented by American Family Theater, this holiday classic comes to life on stage at Fairfield University's Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., Sunday , December 18, 2011. Tickets are $15 adults, $12 children.

Performed by American Family Theater, "Babes in Toyland" begins with fairy tale characters Alan, Mary, Widow Piper, Jack, Jill and Barnaby, slowly, one-by-one coming to life on stage and telling their story through dance in an entertaining opening sequence. Featuring songs that were introduced in Victor Herbert's 1903 original, including "The March of the Toys," "Toyland," and "I Can't Do The Sum," the current production also includes several new songs by award-winning playwright and composer, Don Kersey. Special lighting effects enhance the glittering sets that feature unique movable modules portraying the Magic Forest, Toyland and the Widow Piper's House. "Babes in Toyland" is filled with unforgettable music and sparkling talent, brimming with humor and heart, as audiences young and old follow the adventurous tale, from Pipervile and Widow Piper's garden through the woods and into the magical Toyland,
