Plourde helped Fairfield to a 3-1 week, including a series win over MAAC foe Iona, by going 6-for-12 with five runs scored, three RBI, a .750 slugging percentage, and a .588 on-base percentage.

The rookie began the week by going 2-for-4 with an RBI in the Stags' 15-1 rout of Quinnipiac. In Fairfield's 6-5 win over Iona on May 7, Plourde was 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs scored, and one driven in. He drove in a go-ahead run in the fifth inning and, after Iona tied it up in the seventh, Plourde scored what would be the game-winning run in the bottom half of the inning. In the Stags' 11-4 victory on May 8, Plourde was 1-for-2 with two walks, was hit by a pitch and scored three times.

Plourde, who is currently riding a seven-game hitting streak, is batting .256 this season with 20 runs scored and 13 RBI. He also has collected seven doubles, two triples, and two homers. Plourde has appeared in 39 of the Stags' 40 games with 34 starts between outfield and catcher.

It is the first award of the season for Plourde and the third weekly award for the Stags. Senior Tucker Nathans was named MAAC Player of the Week on two occasions earlier this season.

Fairfield (18-23; 9-9 MAAC) will travel to Canisius College, May 14-15, in a crucial MAAC series. The Stags are currently tied for fourth place in the league and look to secure a berth in the 2011 MAAC Baseball Tournament.
