Fairfield University community mourns student death


Image: Fairfield University The Fairfield University community mourns the death, today, of Julia Sill, a member of the class of 2013. Julia, 19, was a sophomore majoring in Communication in the College of Arts & Sciences, and a resident of Pasadena, CA.

Upon learning of Julia's death, University President, Rev. Jeffrey P. von Arx, S.J., said, "The community is shaken by the sudden and tragic loss of a valued member of the Fairfield family.  On behalf of the University, I extend my sincere condolences to Julia's family and ask everyone to pray for Julia, her family, and friends."

A prayer service will be held at 8 p.m. this evening (Tuesday) in The Egan Chapel of St. Ignatius of Loyola on campus. The staff from the offices of the University's Counseling Services, Campus Ministry, Residence Life, and Public Safety have taken steps to reach out to students, particularly those close to Julia, and are available to assist anyone who needs help in dealing with this sudden loss.
