Today's leaders function in a dynamic and ever-changing environment and leadership skills are more in demand than ever. Dr. Paul Maloney, assistant professor of the practice in applied psychology in Fairfield University's Graduate School of Education and Allied Professions, leads a free full day workshop on campus at Alumni House on Wednesday, Feb. 16 from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. The capacity is limited and reservations are required. The workshop is designed to help participants develop leadership skills that will enable them to deal effectively with changing situations using different styles. Through case studies, discussion, and role-play, participants will learn to:

• Explain the differences between management and leadership
• Define leadership
• Specify the four key styles of leadership and when to apply them
• Identify the readiness of their followers
• Explain the Situational Model
• Determine the impact of applying the wrong style
• Develop a vision statement
• Practice the styles and receive feedback
• Develop an action plan for their own development

Maloney's career includes senior management and development positions at NBC, Mobil Oil Corporation and PepsiCo International and he has consulted worldwide for American Airlines, GE, Schering-Plough, Kodak, Chrysler Capital, Artisan Software, Nielsen Media Research, and many other organizations. His specialties include change management, leadership, executive feedback and coaching, and presentation skills. He served as a lieutenant in the navy and later earned his doctorate from the University of Virginia.
