Fairfield University joins with business associations to recognize new technologies and notable entrepreneurs of 2011


Image: Dolan School of Business What: A holiday party and awards celebration co-hosted by Fairfield University and some prominent organizations in the state - the Connecticut Technology Council (CTC), Crossroads Venture Group (CVG), the Angel Investor Forum, and the Inventors Association of Connecticut (IACT). The event promises to be of interest to the entrepreneurially minded and to those curious about the development of new technologies.

When: Thursday, December 8, 4:45 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Where: Dolan School of Business Dining Hall

Who: The organizations are each involved in creating, nurturing or supporting technology businesses in Connecticut. The University and the groups will come together to celebrate a year of lessons learned, recognize notable accomplishments, and hand out the annual Innovation Excellence Award and the Catapult Awards. The event is free for Fairfield University students, faculty and staff, and IACT, CTC and CVG members. However, registration is required by December 7. "This should be a really good way for the faculty and students and the venture capital community to meet one another," said Douglas Lyon, Ph.D., professor of computer engineering and IACT president. "There are great networking and entrepreneurship opportunities for those attending."

Those attending are asked to bring a new, unwrapped toy to donate to the Marines' Toys for Tots Foundation. Toys collected are for children ages 1 to 17. Live jazz music provided by Mark Richards and David Harris. Food and beverages served.
