Fairfield University senior Tucker Nathans was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Baseball Player of the Week after hitting .571 with eight runs scored to help the Stags to a 4-0 week.

Nathans also turned in four RBI, a 1.000 slugging percentage, and a .632 on-base percentage. Five of his eight hits were for extra bases and he also walked three times and stole two bases. Defensively, Nathans was perfect at second base in 21 chances.

In the Stags' 9-3 victory at Army, Nathans went 3-for-4, all doubles which tied a single game program record. In addition, with the three hits on the night, Nathans became Fairfield's career hits leader. He also scored three runs and drove in two against the Black Knights. In Fairfield's three-game sweep of MAAC foe Niagara University, Nathans hit .500 with five runs scored and two RBI.

Nathans, who picked up his second MAAC Player of the Week honor of the year, is batting .327 this season and leads the team with 19 RBI and 23 runs scored. He also had drawn 11 walks this season and stolen seven bases.

For his career, Nathans has appeared in all 172 games in which the Stags have played since his arrival in 2008. In addition, the team captain has made 159 consecutive starts in the middle infield and is steadily moving up Fairfield's career charts in several offensive categories. Aside from being the career hits leader, he is third all-time in doubles (54) and five away from snapping Mike Pike's record of 58 which was set in 1996. Nathans is also tied for third all-time in triples (9) and needs one to tie the program record of 10 which is held by both Bill Wilson and Bob Ciccone. With 139 RBI, he is second all-time at Fairfield is approaching Tom Lopusznick's record of 165 which was set in 2000. Nathans is also in the top-10 all times in career runs scored (125), home runs (16) batting average (.350) and slugging percentage (.529).

Fairfield (11-15; 4-5 MAAC) returns to action on April 13 when the Stags host Yale University on Alumni Diamond at 3:30 p.m.
