Program showcases creativity of student writers

Image: Fairfield University campus Student authors from Fairfield University's creative writing program will be in the spotlight as the school partners with the Pequot Library in Southport, Conn. to present a program titled "Inspired Voices" on Tuesday, April 12 at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to public.

The evening program will feature readings of original works by graduate students, who are enrolled in Fairfield University's Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Creative Writing program. "How Escargots in Shallot Butter Formed Half of My Identity" and "I Really Need a Fish In My Life" are just some of the interesting fiction and non-fiction stories that will be presented by the aspiring student novelists.

Fairfield's creative writing program has a current enrollment of over 70 graduate students from across the country, and is the fastest-growing new graduate degree at the university. The popular graduate program offers four concentrations - fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, and screen writing, and it takes two years to complete.

In 2008, Fairfield joined approximately 35 other academic institutions that offer a master's degree in creative writing. To learn more about the program visit fairfield.edu/mfa .
