Cultural historian Eric Burns speaks and signs new work at Fairfield University's Open VISIONS Forum

Fairfield University's Open VISIONS Forum speaker Eric Burns, cultural historian and former television journalist ( Fox News Watch , NBC News ) and author of the soon-to-be-published Invasion of the Mind-Snatchers: Television's Conquest of America in the Fifties .

What:
Open VISIONS Forum lecture and Q&A with Burns, OVF Director Professor Philip Eliasoph and Dr. David Gudelunas, associate professor of communication. Burns will discuss the profound social and political impact that television has had on generations of watchers. Eliasoph moderates the discussion, while Gudelunas will question Burns and invite the audience to do the same.

Following the lecture, Burns will sign Invasion of the Mind-Snatchers in the lobby. In a recent Library Journal , the reviewer wrote positively about Burns' work and recommended it saying, "Reading a work by Burns is like having a delightful, intelligent conversation with a cultural expert."
