9/11 Remembrances at Fairfield University


September 11 Families for Peaceful Tomorrows

Orlando and Phyllis Schaefer Rodriguez, Image: 9/11 memorial whose son Greg died in the attacks on the World Trade Center on 9/11, will speak on "The Path We Took - Forgiveness over Retribution," in the McGrath Common in the lower level of the Egan Chapel of St. Ignatius Loyola on Friday, Sept. 10 at 4 p.m.  The couple, who joined with other relatives of victims to form "September 11 Families for Peaceful Tomorrows" have been actively involved in "The Forgiveness Project" and the "Institute for the Healing of Memories" based in Cape Town, South Africa.

Circle of Remembrance
Earlier in the day on Sept. 10, at 1:30 p.m., Fairfield will hold its Third Annual Circle of Remembrance in commemoration of the Sept. 11 tragedies. Planned by the Division of Student Affairs, the ceremony will be led by Fr. Gerald Blaszczak, S.J., university chaplain, with music presented by the University Glee Club. The event takes place in the Traffic Circle in front of the Barone Campus Center, where members of the university community have been invited to plant flags that day.

9/11 Remembrance Mass
On Sunday, Sept. 12 at 11:00 a.m., a 9/11 Remembrance Mass will be said in the Egan Chapel of St. Ignatius Loyola. Rev. Gerald R. Blaszczak will preside.

The public is welcome to all events.
