Image: Charlotte's Web Theatreworks USA's production of "Charlotte's Web," opens the Quick Center for the Arts' Young Audience Sunday Series with two shows at Fairfield University on Oct. 17 at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Admission is $15 adults and $12 children. The Young Audience Sunday Series is an Arts & Minds presentation.

Based on E.B. White's loving classic story of the friendship between a pig named Wilbur and a little gray spider named Charlotte, a cast of five actors portrays the familiar and loveable characters that include Templeton, the rat and Fern and Homer in this hour-long play by Joseph Robinette with incidental music by Jeffrey Lunden.

Wilbur has a problem; how to avoid ending up in the slaughterhouse. Enter Charlotte, a fine writer and a true friend, who assures Wilbur she will save him. Charlotte hits on a plan to fool Farmer Zuckerman - she will create a "miracle." Spinning the words "Some Pig" in her web, Charlotte weaves a solution, which not only makes Wilbur a prize pig, but also ensures his place on the farm forever.

This treasured tale, featuring madcap and endearing farm animals, explores bravery, selfless love and the true meaning of friendship.

Rob Barron directs the production with a set designed by James D. Sandefur and costumes designed by Anne-Marie Wright. Musical direction is by Barbara Anselmi.
