Fairfield University's Bellarmine Museum of Art announces November-December schedule of free events | Press Releases

Image: Night at the Museum Fairfield University's new Bellarmine Museum of Art is now open to the public and the first temporary exhibition, "Gifts from Athens: New Plaster Casts from the Acropolis Museum and Photographs by Socratis Mavrommatis" will continue through December 17. Director Jill Deupi, J.D., Ph.D. announces a schedule of free events that includes gallery talks, films and family events from Nov. through the month of Dec. The museum is located in the lower level of Bellarmine Hall, the tallest point on the campus. Free parking is adjacent to the side entrance. Regular museum hours are Monday-Friday from 10-3 p.m. and the museum will be open from 12-5 p.m. for Saturday events, two of which are devoted to family activities. All events are free and open to the public.

Gallery talks are held at noon in the museum's Meditz Gallery. The talks relate to the current exhibition and introduce the public to highlights of the new museum. Films, which are screened in the museum's smART classroom at noon, include several screenings of a PBS Nova film, "Secrets of the Parthenon" and of "The Caryatid Hairstyling Project," a film by Dr. Katherine Schwab exploring the hairstyles of ancient Greek sculpture. There will be two Saturdays devoted to family events.
