Fairfield University sophomore Brianna Dixion (Long Beach, Calif.) was named to the All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Second Team to headline the Stags award recipients at the MAAC Championship Awards Banquet held at Disney's Hollywood Studios.

Dixion, who was named MAAC Rookie of the Year in 2009, lead the team with 303 kills (2.61/s), recorded 105 digs, and was second on the team with 48 total blocks. In MAAC matches this season, she averaged 2.46 kills and had 30 total blocks and 26 assists. Dixion had a solid MAAC Championship performance, averaging 3.08 kills and 1.83 digs per set while adding nine total blocks.

Freshman Rachel Romansky (Denver, Colo.) was named to the MAAC Championship All-Tournament Team after notching two double-doubles in three matches. She averaged 11.10 assists and 3.50 digs per set while added 10 kills and three total blocks. She also notched a career-high 22 digs in the MAAC Championship semifinal against top-seeded Niagara University.

Six Stags were named to the MAAC All-Academic Team. Juniors Lauren Balmert (Cranberry Twp., Pa.), Kendal Dirkin (Oak Park, Ill.), and Amanda Steiger (Cary, Ill.) earned the accolade for the second-straight year while senior Hannah Segebart (Littleton, Colo.), junior Bethany Steiger (Cary, Ill.) and sophomore Kara Reis (Ramona, Calif.) earned the award for the first time. To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student athlete must complete two semesters at their institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale.

Fairfield, the fifth-seed, advanced to the semifinals of the 2010 MAAC Championship. The Stags finished the year at 13-20 after topping third-seeded Canisius College in the third place match of the postseason tournament.
