Theatreworks/USA's Tales Of A Fourth Grade Nothing presented at Fairfield University's Quick Center for the Arts April 11

Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing Theatreworks/USA presents a Two Beans Production of a dramatization of Judy Blume's contemporary classic "Tales Of A Fourth Grade Nothing" on Sunday, April 11 at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. at Fairfield University's Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts. Tickets for the Sunday series are $15 for adults and $12 for children. This presentation is part of Fairfield University's Arts & Minds season.

Nine-year-old Peter Hatcher struggles with an end-of-the-school-year assignment to write about the most important thing that happened to him during fourth grade. This is a daunting task given how much took place that year, in particular, the difficulties he encountered when dealing with his toddler terror of a brother, Fudge.

Peter writes about his brother's refusal to eat, to open his mouth at the dentist, a disastrous third birthday party, and getting blamed for Fudge knocking out his two front teeth. Peter always has to help out with Fudge, who gets all the attention, while Peter gets all the blame. It's enough to make a kid feel like a fourth grade nothing!

The final straw comes when Peter's pet turtle disappears ... Peter has put up with Fudge for too long.  How can he get his parents to pay attention to him for a change?

"Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing," a 60-minute intermissionless play appropriate for ages 6 and up, began touring in fall 2009. Bruce Mason dramatized Judy Blume's story and Jeff Lunden contributed incidental music.  The production is directed by Two Beans Productions' artistic director Rob Barron (Theatreworks/USA's "Charlotte's Web," "Ramona Quimby," and "Romeo & Juliet").  Costume designs are by Anne-Marie Wright ("Charlotte's Web," "James & the Giant Peach," "Winnie the Pooh"), with scenic design by Vaughn Patterson ("If You Give a Pig a Pancake").
