Fairfield University's Glee Club presents final concert of the season "Road Trippin' and Glee Clubbin'" on May 6


Image: Glee Club The Fairfield University Glee Club under the direction of Carole Ann Maxwell, DSM presents the final concert of the 2009-2010 season, "Road Trippin' and Glee Clubbin'" on Thursday May 6 at 7:30 p.m. at the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts. Tickets are $10 general, $6 students. This event is a presentation of the Arts & Minds season.

This popular pops concert has something for everyone from Miley Cyrus to Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim and Eric Clapton and Little Walter. Beth Palmer takes her place as accompanist and is joined by the Road Trippin' Pops Band featuring Mark Beyerly on keyboard, Mike Nunno on bass, Dan Arcamone on guitar and Anthony DeQuattro on percussion.

The program kicks off with the full Glee Club's rendition of "Life Is a Highway" by Tom Cochrane; Miley Cyrus' "Party in the USA" gets the special attention of Meg Hallissy and Rosie Knowles; Adam Powers solos on John Mayer's "Why Georgia;" Emily Norberg lights up the house with Marc Cohn's "Walkin' in Memphis," and the Funky Fresh Boys - Peter Lyons, Marty Malispina, Rob Preli, Josh Matteo, Luke Paulino, Adam Powers, Anthony Lau, Dan Bruno and Brendan Toohey - bring a little "Hairspray" to the stage with "Good Morning, Baltimore" by Shaiman and Wittman in an arrangement by Ralph Belvedere. Kristin Levandoski spotlights the standard Jimmy Van Heusen and Sammy Cahn ballad "Come Fly with Me," Rosemary O'Connor, Liz DeSiena, Keryn Mello and Tara Roby find themselves "Wakin' up in Vegas" courtesy of Perry, Culsson and Child, arranged by Belvedere and the dynamic and varied contributions of songwriters, Carrie Underwood, Sam Cooke, Kirby Shaw, Joe Quinn and Matt Pecoraro, White and Adkins, Cole Porter, Otis Redding and the familiar team of Warren and Dubin are only some of those who provide the gold that the Glee Club weaves into a memorable evening of "Road Trippin'."
