Classical Theatre of Harlem presents "Waiting for Godot" directed by Christopher McElroen. In this electrifying spin on Samuel Beckett's classic "Waiting for Godot," The Classical Theatre of Harlem uses the agonizing wait for help after Katrina as the central metaphor. The artists feel they are living in a time of moral emergency much, as did Beckett himself. The project was conceived by New York artist Paul Chan, who is known for his unique way of bringing light onto dynamic situations in the current times. It was performed in early November 2007 for free in the Lower Ninth Ward and Gentilly of New Orleans. The words speak to every person in the audience. Tickets are $30.

Raul Malo is best known as the founder and lead singer of the Grammy-winning country band The Mavericks. Raul Malo has made his mark in the world of solo-careers. He blurs the line of musical genres, making something that everyone can enjoy. Country twang, a dash of salsa rhythms and good old rock 'n' roll combined with his charismatic and brilliant personality makes Raul Malo and act that will shine through. Tickets are $45, $40, $35.

Friday, October 16 at 8 p.m., Quick Center for the Arts

Alexei Volodin , renowned Russian pianist, born in St. Petersburg, has gathered much critical acclaim in Europe. His international career was launched when he won First Prize at the ninth International Géza Anda Piano Competition in Zurich in 2003. The program includes Beethoven Sonatas and Chopin 24-preludes. Tickets are $35.

Saturday, October 17 at 8 p.m., Quick Center for the Arts

Shaolin Warriors present a full-choreographed theatrical production and bring the remarkable skill, stunning movement and spectacular imagery of Kung Fu to stages throughout the world. Performed by disciples of the Shaolin schools, known throughout the world for their disciplined and deadly martial-arts prowess, these Kung Fu masters have trained from a very young age in mental and physical disciplines, which allow them to perform feats one thought only possible in the movies. Tickets are $45, $40, $35.

MacHomer is created and performed by Rick Miller as a comedic adaptation of William Shakespeare's "Macbeth." Includes Miller's voices and characters created by Matt Groening for The Simpsons. Entertaining for the entire family. Tickets are $35.

National Theatre of London presents NT Live's "All's Well That Ends Well" - William Shakespeare's delightful comedy directed by Marianne Elliott. Open VISIONS Forum and the Carl and Dorothy Bennett Center for Judaic Studies present Khaled Hosseini, the bestselling writer of "The Kite Runner" and "A Thousand Splendid Suns." Hosseini is the 2009 Jacoby-Lunin Humanitarian Lecturer and will speak on "The Voices of Afghanistan." His appearance is made possible by a gift from the Frank Jacoby Foundation. Tickets are $45.

The annual Judaic Studies Scholar-in-Residence Lecturer Gary P. Zola, Ph.D. is the executive director of The Jacob Rader Marcus Center for the American Jewish Archives and associate professor at Hebrew Union College - Jewish Institute of Religion in Cincinnati, Ohio. Dr. Zola will deliver a lecture entitled, "He Was One of Us: American Jewry and the Idealization of Abraham Lincoln." The Irish in Film Series continues with "High Spirits" (1988), a comedy directed by Neil Jordan and starring Peter O'Toole as Peter Plunkett, the broke proprietor of Castle Plunkett, a hotel catering to American tourists. In an effort to encourage business, Plunkett claims the castle is haunted and is surprised by the appearance of real ghosts, a bride and groom, played by Daryl Hannah and Liam Neeson. Dr. William Abbott, associate professor of History, introduces the film. Admission is free.

Wednesday, October 28 at 7:00 p.m., DiMenna-Nyselius Library, Multimedia Room

The final film in The Irish in Film Series is "True Confessions" (1981), directed by Ulu Grosbard and starring Robert DeNiro as a Catholic monsignor and Robert Duvall as his brother, a cop. The story revolves around the ethical conflicts the brothers encounter in their respective professions. With Charles Durning as a corrupt developer whose success depends on his relationship with the Los Angeles archdiocese and Burgess Meredith as a pious priest whose virtues go unrewarded. Director of American Studies Dr. Leo O'Connor introduces the film. Admission is free.

Thomas J. Walsh Art Gallery

September 16-December 6, Quick Center for the Arts

Robert January's figural works: The solo exhibition entitled, "Art & Human Consciousness" will include January's drawings and paintings, as well as historic art which inspired January to paint. Gallery conversations will be presented by Jean Clottes, Dr. Frank Wilson and other specialists in conjunction with the exhibit.

Admission to the gallery is free. The hours are: Tuesday-Saturday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday: Noon to 4 p.m. Closed Monday. The gallery is always open when performances occur at the Quick Center.
