Bridgeport students to visit Fairfield University Psychobiology Lab

What :
Hands-on neuroscience activities for 6th and 7th graders in Bridgeport to increase brain awareness - resulting from a Psychobiology lab at Fairfield University which has a service component.

How :
Dr. Shannon Harding, assoc. professor of psychology at Fairfield University is using a $2,500 grant from CT Campus Compact to promote science in Bridgeport classrooms. Fairfield University students have visited Black Rock School and St. Ann's School to talk about the brain. Now the grade-school students will visit a science lab at Fairfield University to:

When :
Wednesday, Oct. 28, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. (Black Rock School)
Wednesday, Nov. 4, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. (St. Ann's School)

Where :
Bannow Science Building at Fairfield University
Room 469 and surrounding labs

Result :
The course winds up in December with a pizza party and delivery of science equipment to the schools, funded by the grant. St. Ann's will be using the money to purchase microscopes so that they can view brain cells with a high resolution. Black Rock has not decided what to do with the funds yet.
