National Computer Camp (NCC) at Fairfield University for boys and girls to get underway in late June | Press Releases

You might just find the future programmers of the next "Guitar Hero" at National Computer Camp (NCC) at Fairfield University this summer.

Now in its 32nd year, the camp, directed by Michael Zabinski, Ph.D., professor of engineering and physics at Fairfield, teaches kids to design web pages, take apart computers, navigate the Internet, and yes, even create video games. The primary focus of NCC is to instruct students about software applications and programming.

The co-ed camp is geared to children ages 8-18. Campers may attend one or multi-week sessions beginning June 21 and running through August.

Dr. Zabinski founded NCC to prepare young people for the digital age, and to foster interest in computers, engineering and science in an engaging, fun and interactive way. The age-appropriate curriculum is suitable for beginners as well as advanced learners.

Courses taught fall into the following seven categories: 2D and 3D video game design, digital video production, web page design, computer languages, software applications, preparation for Network + Certification, and preparation for A+ Hardware Certification.

Campers typically take one course for one week or longer, except for software applications. Residential and day programs are available. An optional sports program is also available.
