Marc Cohn , best known for his song, "Walking in Memphis," was named Grammy Winner of Best New Artist and has since produced three full-length albums. The music leads him on - after going through a series of life changing events. Cohn's songs are still layered with textures and soulful singing and he has featured many notable guest artists on his albums including David Crosby, Graham Nash and Bonnie Raitt. $40, 35, 30.

Monterey Jazz Festival on Tour featuring Kenny Barron Trio, R egina Carter, Kurt Elling and Russell Malone brings a celebration of one of the longest running and most important jazz festivals in the world. Elegant playing, sensitive melodies and infectious rhythms inspired The Los Angeles Times to name Kenny Barron "one of the top jazz pianists in the world." $40, 35, 30

Lucy Kaplansky is a New York City singer-songwriter touring her most recent release, "Over the Hills." Rediscovering her musical roots, she returns to a more acoustic sound that is influenced by the music she first fell in love with - folk and classic country. Richard Shindell is a meticulous craftsman of song whose five studio albums and one live recording have been revered by critics and fans alike. Shindell's songs weave tales that interchangeably champion the downtrodden, exalt the disaffected or wax empathetic to those lost to society's fringes. $40, 35, 30

Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center returns with an evening of Beethoven with Gilbert Kalish, piano and Ani Kavafian, violin. After 35 years on National Public Radio, A Prairie Home Companion - Live! in HD will be broadcast in high-definition exclusively to movie theatres and arts centers across the U.S. and Canada. This special two-hour presentation is an encore of a February 4th performance taped live before an audience at the Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul, Minnesota. It features special guests as well as regular show performers such as Sue Scott and Tim Russell, sound-effects wizards Tom Keith and Fred Newman and the Guy's All-Star Shoe Band led by keyboardist, composer and arranger Richard Dworsky, with Pat Donohue (guitar), Peter Johnson (percussion) and Gary Raynor (bass). $18 general, $16 seniors, $15 Quick Center members, $12 children and students

Ballet Folklórico de México in a Special World Music and Dance performance that is one of three areas of focus for Fairfield University's 2009-2010 season: "Latin America Images, Dialogue and Action." Ballet Folklórico founder Amalia Hernández continues her mission to bring reflections on the beauty of the Universe in motion, from the early beginnings in the pre-Colombian civilizations through Hispanic influences of the Vice royal era up to the popular strength of the Revolutionary years, not only in Mexico but to the rest of the world. $45, 40, 35

Tomie dePaola's Strega Nona , a musical adapted for the stage by Thomas W. Olson based on the books by Tomie dePaola. A fantastical tale of a friendly magical witch who strives to cure the ills of her tiny Italian town of Calabria. The Center for Catholic Studies presents the 2009-2010 Bellarmine Lecture with Rev. Patrick J. Ryan, S.J., Laurence J. McGinley Professor of Religion and Society, Fordham University. The Met: Live in HD

Four decades into a legendary Met career, tenor Plácido Domingo makes history singing the title role in Verdi's gripping political thriller, Simon Boccanegra , which is written for a baritone. Adrianne Pieczonka, Marcello Giordani, and James Morris are his co-stars in this moving and tragic story of a father and his lost daughter. James Levine conducts. Thomas J. Walsh Art Gallery

January 28-February 28, Quick Center for the Arts

The Art of John "Crash" Matos weaves together his roots of graffiti and tagging growing up in the South Bronx with the immediacy of Abstract Expressionism and the bold colors of Pop Art. His career spans over three decades, starting on the subway trains of New York City to renowned galleries across the country and all over the world.

Special note: Crash will spend a week prior to the exhibition opening working with a select group of Bridgeport high school students creating a mural at the Walsh Gallery. The mural will become a part of the exhibition.

Admission to the gallery is free. The hours are: Tuesday-Saturday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Sunday: Noon to 4 p.m. Closed Monday. The gallery is always open when performances occur at the Quick Center.
