"The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley" at Fairfield University's Quick Center for the Arts April 26 | Press Releases

The adventurous Stanley Lambchop comes to Fairfield University's Quick Center for the Arts on Sunday, April 26 at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. and he's bringing music! Young fans of Jeff Brown's Flat Stanley phenomenon - from 5 years and up - may be familiar with Stanley as a normal, everyday, run-of-the-mill kid, but they are in for a major treat with IntraMusic Theatricals' production "The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley."

One night while Stanley is sleeping, the bulletin board on the wall above his bed comes loose and falls right on top of Stanley! And the next morning, Stanley wakes up flat! Not just flat ... really flat, so flat his friends fly him like a kite and he decides to travel the world by mailing himself in an envelope. The adventure begins!

In a whirlwind musical travelogue, Stanley - the ultimate pen pal - scours the globe for a solution to his unusual problem. He's stamped, posted and cancelled from South Africa to Mexico, from Russia to England to China and beyond. And wherever Stanley Lambchop goes, he meets new friends, learns about different cultures through song and dance and closes in on his goal of being a three-dimensional boy once more.

Audiences love traipsing after Stanley (and getting an idea of how big the world is), meeting new friends from different cultures, understanding what it means to be a boy in a strange place who has a "mission" and they delight in the lively colorful and musical journey in store.

The book is by Timothy A. McDonald with lyrics by McDonald and Jonathan K. Waller and David Weinstein joins the wordsmiths in creating the music.
