Fairfield University Glee Club Goin' Wild at the Quick Center for the Arts April 30

Get ready!  The Fairfield University Glee Club is pulling out all the stops for the final concert of the year, "The Glee Club Goin' Wild" at the Quick Center for the Arts, Thursday, April 30 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 general, $6 students.

Under the steady baton of the ebullient Carole Ann Maxwell, D.S.M., accompanist Beth Palmer joins the Pops Band with Mark Beyerly on keyboard, Mike Nunno on bass and Steve Collins on percussion in some wild music ranging from Mick Jagger and Keith Richards (co-writers) to Christopher Tin and Cole Porter (not co-writers).

The evening begins with "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" sung by the full Glee Club with a narrator who defines the storyline. Jennifer Meuser rolls out a series of featured singers with the "Life of the Party," followed by "Little Wild One," guitar by Andrew Festin with C.J. Federowitz and Leigh Blickely, "I Just Can't Wait to be King" with Rosemary Knowles and Pat LaRiviere and Matt Pecoraro on guitar get down with "Wild Horses." Continuing the rhythms are duo Meg Hallissy and Michael Verrusio with "Mockingbird," Cait Curran with Pecoraro's guitar backing her on "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree," by K.T. Tunstall, Jamie DeStefano, "Down Under," Anne Krane entices with "Let's Do It" and Claudia Testa yodels her way along with the beloved Rodgers and Hammerstein's "The Lonely Goatherd." Building to a rousing finish to Act I is Katie Foley and Hailey Conn with "Bye, Bye Blackbird," Dan O'Neill and Jon Haskins doing Duran Duran's "Hungry Like the Wolf" and finally, the ensemble and vocalists do a spectacular version of Tin's "Baba Yetu" from Civilization IV.

Act II holds surprises and standards and includes songs from Broadway's "Cats" and "Beauty and the Beast," Lennon and McCartney, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Country great Hoyt Axton.
