Radio Dramas Series returns for an 8th season to Fairfield University with Thrillers and Killers

The program includes some of radio's most entertaining shows, including "The Shadow: The Temple Bells of Niban." This dark episode pits man-about-town Lamont Cranston - The Shadow - against a sinister and mysterious woman from India with a talent for charming cobras. She also knows something about Lamont's past and we begin to wonder whether or not she, too, holds the power to cloud men's minds.

The Lone Ranger has a story all his own. This episode of the "daring masked rider of the plains who fights for law and order," sheds light on who he is and how he became a legend. A brutal gang attacked the Lone Ranger and his brother. His brother was killed and he was left for dead. We learn how he met Tonto and how he paired up with his great stallion, Silver. "Return with us now, to those thrilling days of yesteryear..."

The "Symphony in D-Minor" episode of "Quiet, Please," the horror/fantasy/drama program, portrays a suitor and a diabolical murder plan that will allow him to marry a rich man's wife. But, the target of the murder plan possesses hypnotic powers that turn the tables on the would-be-murderer.

Finally, the audience has an opportunity to solve three episodes of "Five Minute Mysteries." In each of the three episodes, someone is killed and the listener is challenged to catch a single clue that might give away "whodunit."

Bringing these dramas to life are Gary Cavello of West Haven, Geoffrey Gilbert and Brianne Bresky of Stratford, John Watson and director, actor and musician Daniel Smith, both from New Haven. Ted Powell of Stratford creates the live sound effects and Smith joins a string quartet on organ to create the all-important moods.
