The Plant That Ate Dirty Socks comes to Fairfield University's Quick Center for the Arts November 16

The rollicking 60-minute musical, "The Plant That Ate Dirty Socks" is based on the first volume in Nancy McArthur's book series of the same name and is produced by Theatreworks USA. The cast of six actors and a puppeteer comes to Fairfield University's Quick Center for the Arts on Sunday, Nov. 16 at 1 and 3 p.m. and there will be an ArtsBound performance for students in grades 3-7 on Monday, Nov. 17 at 10 a.m. The ArtsBound program is co-sponsored by the Fairfield County Community Foundation and the Herman Goldman Foundation.

Michael's closet has exploded! At least, that's what it looks like, with all the baseball cards, heaps of crumpled paper, clothes strewn about, and piles of smelly, dirty socks everywhere! It's the battle of the bedroom, as his younger brother (and roommate) Norman fights to keep his spotless territory from the invasion of Michael's mess.

But that was before the appearance of their pet plants! Michael's pile of stinky socks disappears faster than you can say "My goodness, what an enormous plant," as Mom and Dad struggle to keep the bizarre botanical wonders under wraps... What will the neighbors think?

The colorful sets were designed by Michael Schweikardt, with costumes by Tracy Christensen and the titular plant puppets were designed by Eric Wright. The musical features book, music and lyrics by Larson and Kleban and award winning triple-threat Joe Iconis. Choreography is by Jennifer Werner and the show is directed by John Simpkins.

Tickets are $15 adults, $12 children and $7 for the ArtsBound program. They may be purchased online at fairfield.edu/quick or by calling the Box Office at (203) 254-4010 or the toll free number at 1-877-ARTS-396. For more information, please visit the website at fairfield.edu/quick.
