Bestselling author Anita Shreve speaks as an Inspired Writer at Fairfield University October 28



Who: Bestselling novelist Anita Shreve, a guest of Fairfield University's Inspired Writer's series, will read from and discuss her just-published novel "Testimony." Shreve joins the Fairfield University MFA in Creative Writing Program as guest faculty for the Winter 2008 session.

What: Fairfield University's Inspired Writer's series offers the public an opportunity to meet with and discuss the work of writers of fiction, creative nonfiction and poetry in an intimate setting. Admission is $15.

It also introduces the possibility of honing the craft of writing through Fairfield University's new MFA Program in Creative Writing. Michael White, author of five novels, is director of the MFA in Creative Writing Program. He currently teaches at Fairfield University and he has invited Anita Shreve to participate as guest faculty in the first session to be held in Winter 2008 at Enders Island in Mystic, Connecticut. Award-winning writer Mark Doty also joins the Winter 2008 session as guest faculty.

Shreve's "Testimony" has already received raves reviews: "Shreve arrows in on many targets as she flawlessly weaves a tale that is mesmerizing, hypnotic and compulsive. No one walks away unscathed, and that includes the reader." Library Journal (STARRED review); and Booklist , in another STARRED review, stated that she is a "consummate craftsman and frequent provocateur, (and) is on fired in her latest novel."
