John Lennon Educational Tour Bus to visit Fairfield University Oct. 4

The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus will be making a stop a the Fairfield University campus on Thursday, Oct. 4, from 10. a.m. to 2 p.m. The bus is a mobile recording and multimedia production studio outfitted with the latest musical instruments, computers, recording equipment and video production gear. The public is welcome to tour the bus, which travels the country year-round, stopping at schools, concerts, music festivals, community centers and conferences. There will be giveaways for Tour Bus participants.

The Bus, which is 67.5' long and 8.5' wide, will be located near the John A. Barone Campus Center.

The Bus interior is divided into two separate recording environments. The front studio has the capability of creating multimedia projects. Audio and video components are discussed, with students learning about recording, mixing and editing music/video projects. The back studio is a more traditional set-up for bands and the remote recording of concerts and special events. Powered by Apple Computer audio and video solutions, the studios feature a full range of instruments and equipment, including guitars, basses, keyboards, drums, digital workstations, video cameras, two turntables and a new software based DJ station.

The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus is celebrating its tenth year of touring throughout 2007. It was created by Brian Rothschild as an offshoot of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest. The Contest and Educational Tour Bus are made possible by an agreement with Yoko Ono Lennon. Thanks in part to a sizable grant from Yoko Ono Lennon, a second John Lennon Educational Tour Bus is currently being built and its launch is anticipated in 2008.

The Tour Bus is also made possible by the generous donations of several major industry equipment manufacturers, including Apple Computer and Maxell Corporation.

Fairfield University is an iTunes university.
