Fairfield University was a proud partner for the grand opening of the Town of Fairfield Historical Society's Museum and History Center, held on Sunday, Sept. 16. The new Center is located at 370 Beach Road and is part of Fairfield's historic Town Green. Students participated in a parade from Jennings Beach, down Beach Road to the Museum. University President Jeffrey von Arx, S.J., offered congratulations during a ribbon cutting at the Museum. This was followed by a Revolutionary War Re-enactment and Encampment on the Green that was sponsored by the University.

The University and the Museum have enjoyed an expanding collaboration recently that has included interns, research projects, and an exciting initiative by our Graduate School of Education and Allied Professions in which our graduate education students are developing digital lesson plans and activities based on the museum's resources and aimed at second and fourth grade Fairfield students who visit the museum each year. The Museum has also joined Fairfield in co-sponsorship of the upcoming Open Visions presentation by renowned historian David McCullough on Oct. 18.
