Auditions for Fairfield University's Summer Festival Chorus to be held on June 19

Dr. Carole Ann Maxwell, Fairfield University's director of Choral and Liturgical Music, will hold placement auditions for the 14th annual Summer Festival Chorus (SFC) on the first night of rehearsal, Tuesday, June 19 at 6:30 p.m. at the Kelley Theatre in the Quick Center for the Arts. Rehearsal follows from 7:30-10:00 p.m.

In keeping with Dr. Maxwell's noted sense of adventure, this year she is holding placement auditions on the first night of rehearsal. "This will give participants a sense of immediacy and follow-through as they use their audition energy as a springboard into rehearsal and begin immediately to create an ensemble," she said recently.

Dr. Maxwell's reputation as one of America's most inspiring conductors of collegiate, community and professional choral ensembles is well known. Her energy and dedication is infectious and her ability to expand her singers' potential generates such enthusiasm that her classes are enormously popular.

Rehearsals for SFC will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from June 19 through July 26 from 7:30-10:00 p.m. The performance for the SFC concert, "Christmas in July" will be held on Saturday, July 28th at 7:30 p.m. in the Kelley Theatre at the Quick Center for the Arts.

The concert features new and unique choral settings of holiday favorites, traditional Christmas music and carols, along with Santa's Super Sing-a-long. Special guests are popular jazz performer and composer Joe Utterback, accompanist Beth Palmer, and assistant conductor Michael A. Ciavaglia.
