The Fairfield University Glee Club returns to the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts on Wednesday, May 2 at 7:30 p.m. under the vibrant guidance of Carole Ann Maxwell, D.S.M. with an evening of Hollywood tunes in "Pops Goes Hollywood!!!"
Dr. Maxwell, producer of this entertaining evening, has chosen an array of music that spans the early 20th century through today. It is designed to give the Glee Club an opportunity to present their diverse talents as a full ensemble, solo and in small groups. The concert begins with the rousing "Hooray for Hollywood," sung by the full chorus and continues with songs from "Cabaret," "The Rocky Horror Picture Show," "Beauty and the Beast," "Johnny B. Goode," "As Time Goes By," "Jailhouse Rock" and "Someone to Watch Over Me," to mention only a few selections.
Music for the evening includes Galen Tate, accompanist, Beth Palmer, keyboard, Mike Nunno, bass and Tom Mulvaney, percussion.
As the school year draws to a close Dr. Maxwell has pulled out all the stops with the pops as the Glee Club and soloists, The Men's Ensemble, Sweet Harmony and other groups of singers from the full ensemble pay tribute to American music of Hollywood.
