The Charles F. Dolan School of Business at Fairfield University named again one of The Princeton Review's Best Business Schools

Image: Princeton Review The Charles F. Dolan School of Business at Fairfield University has been named one of the best business schools in the country by The Princeton Review. The Dolan School is featured in the New York-based education service company's 2007 edition of its "Best 282 Business Schools," which hit bookstores this week. Last year marked the first time that the Dolan School placed in the prestigious annual publication of graduate business programs.

The Dolan School was praised for being a place where students grow academically, personally and professionally. For example, it was noted for having professors and alumni who serve as valuable resources for students seeking internships and careers, and for being an institution where "Jesuit tenets" guide instruction. It also was portrayed as a place that understands the needs of adults' busy lives by providing evening and weekend classes. Dolan students agreed that classmates are "friendly."

The Princeton Review's 80-question survey asked students about themselves, their career plans, and their schools' academics, student body and campus life. Over the course of the publisher's three-year survey cycle, it collected the opinions of students at more than 282 of the best AACSB-accredited MBA programs in the world and gathered statistical information on many more in order to give readers the widest possible base of information for selecting the right business school for them.

Dolan students credited the Dolan School on a variety of components, including its "fine finance program," and "very accessible and helpful faculty." Dolan School students noted "professors' enthusiasm contributes a lot to the learning experience," and observed that course work is "current and interesting." Students gave a thumbs up to the scheduling of evening and weekend courses for the convenience of employed students, as well as classrooms equipped with "all up-to-date teaching technologies."

The publication noted that Dolan School students benefit from the school's proximity to New York City and the nearly 50 Fortune 500 companies headquartered within 50 miles of Fairfield. In addition, the Dolan School is nearby to the greatest concentration of U.S. headquarters for foreign multinationals, which work with the university to provide experiential learning opportunities.

Norman A. Solomon, Ph. D. Dean of the Dolan School, said he was especially pleased by the recognition because it is based on the viewpoints of students. "We are proud that working professionals see the merits and relevance of our fine programs. We are pleased that the hard work of our faculty and staff continues to be acknowledged. Our professors and alumni are indeed, as the guide points out, valuable resources for students seeking internships or careers."

Dana Wilkie, Ed.D,, Assistant Dean and Director of Graduate Programs, said that there has been a steady increase of full-time graduate students in the Dolan School of Business for the past two years. "With the increase of full-time students, the Dolan Graduate Business Association has grown in membership and has acted as a conduit between the Dean's office and the graduate student body in facilitating career development seminars and workshops, community service opportunities, and social activities. Our strong academics and active graduate student association has played a significant role in student satisfaction."

Robert Franek, Princeton Review vice president of Publishing, said, "We chose schools for this book based on our high regard for their academic programs and offerings, institutional data we collect from the schools, and the candid opinions of students attending them who rate and report on their campus experiences at the schools. We are pleased to recommend the Dolan School to readers of our book and users of our website as one of the best institutions they could attend to earn an MBA."

The Dolan School is a leader in business curriculum innovation. Accredited by AACSB International, the Dolan School annually serves 1,500 students in its undergraduate and graduate programs, preparing students to advance within their professions and empowering them to become leaders in their fields.

In addition to substantial professional business experience, faculty members are recognized nationally and internationally for their scholarship.
