Fairfield University's Charles F. Dolan School of Business profiled by The Princeton Review's Best 237 Business Schools

Dolan School of Business at Fairfield University has been named to The Princeton Review's "Best 237 Business Schools" for 2006, marking the first time that the Dolan School has placed in the prestigious annual publication of graduate business programs.

The Princeton Review, a New York-based education services company, conducts a three-year survey cycle, collecting the opinions of graduate students at more than 237 of the best AACSB-accredited MBA programs in the world and gathering statistical information on many more.

The 2006 Best 237 Business Schools guide hit bookstores this week. Students credited the Dolan School on a variety of bases, including its "fine finance program," "very accessible and helpful faculty," and "current and interesting" coursework, as well as its facilities, "equipped to accommodate all up-to-date teaching technologies." The profile also noted that the school is bolstered by its proximity to New York City and to the headquarters of nearly 50 Fortune 500 companies.

The honor of being profiled in The Princeton Review's annual guide is particularly rewarding for the Dolan School since most of the schools listed in the book offer large full-time day programs, whereas the Dolan School's MBA and MS degrees are evening programs with most students attending part-time. Only its One-Year MBA in accounting is a full-time day program.

"We are delighted that the Dolan School has received this valuable recognition from The Princeton Review for its programs," said Norman Solomon, Ph.D., dean of the Dolan School. "This acknowledgement is especially gratifying because it is based on the satisfaction surveys completed by our students. We are very proud that working professionals see so much value in our programs."

Image: Princeton Review The Dolan School offers a robust suite of graduate degree programs, which include a Master's of Science in Finance and an M.B.A. with concentrations available in Accounting, Finance, Management, Marketing, Information Systems and Operations Management, International Business and Taxation as well as a Master's of Science in Tax. This suite of programs will be expanded to include a Master's of Science in Accounting in fall 2007.

Those offerings have enabled the Dolan School to maintain its target enrollment rate for graduate business programs, in spite of stagnant and even downward trending enrollments nationwide, said Dana Wilkie, E.D., assistant dean and director of Graduate Programs.

"The latest two-year data from the General Management Admissions Council (GMAC) shows that nationwide enrollment trends for MBA programs are stable and somewhat declining," Dr. Wilkie said. "The Dolan School has been able to keep up its enrollments by responding to the needs of the business community. We have revised our MBA program to apply more focus to concentration courses and we have been very active in working with the host of businesses in Fairfield County to share our programs and capabilities with them."
