Shakespeare Ventures holds auditions for summer production of "Macbeth" at Fairfield University

Shakespeare Ventures, a professional theatre company based on the Fairfield University campus, will hold auditions for Shakespeare's "Macbeth" on Friday, March 4, from 7 to 10 p.m. and Saturday, March 5, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 to 6 p.m. in the PepsiCo Theatre on campus. Callbacks are Sunday, March 6, from 1 to 5 p.m.

Rehearsals will be held weekday evenings and Saturday afternoons and evenings beginning Monday, June 27. Performances of the play, a classic tale of temptation, ambition and seduction, are scheduled for July 28 through 31 and August 4, 5, 6, 7, 11, 12 and 13.

Auditions are open to all non-equity actors. Actors should prepare a Shakespeare monologue one to two minutes in length and bring a resume of theatre work and a photo. Technicians are also invited for a short interview. They should bring a resume of theatre work and a portfolio, if applicable.

Most technical and acting positions are paid, with internship and apprenticeship opportunities available.

Shakespeare Ventures is a burgeoning professional theatre company now in its third season. It hosts a month-long summer theatre workshop for teen actors and offers in-school programs on Shakespeare, classical theatre and theatre arts across Fairfield County. "Macbeth" is the first in its series of full productions featuring adult actors.
