Rev. Paul E. Carrier, S.J., Ph.D., chaplain at Fairfield University, returns Friday evening, March 19th, from his week in Haiti, where he witnessed first-hand the struggles of the people there to sustain life. While Port-au-Prince remains under guard by the U.S. Marines, Cap Haitien and Gonaives continue to be patrolled by the rebels. He had the opportunity to hear different perspectives on Haiti's turmoil from business and religious people.

Fr. Carrier has been reporting his observations live on CNN each morning this week. Tomorrow he will again be heard on CNN Daybreak between 6:15 and 6:30 a.m.

Fr. Carrier was in Haiti to support a program begun and directed by a 1992 Fairfield University graduate, that provides homeless children with food, shelter and education, including vocational training. While there, he and the program leaders helped bring a woman from the countryside to a hospital in Cap Haitien where electricity is available only two hours a day.
